D. Constance "Connie" Tovey
Loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away Wednesday, September 11, 2024, at Wellspring Assisted Living. Age 92 years. Daughter of the late Costic and Theresa (Matuszewski) Wend, Connie was born May 9, 1932 in St. Charles, Michigan. She was married to Robert P. Tovey, her loving husband of 42 years, on October 22, 1955. He predeceased her on January 21, 1998. Connie had a long nursing career including employment at Saginaw County Hospital and Aleda E. Lutz V.A. Medical Center. She was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Connie enjoyed playing Bridge, the casinos, shuffleboard, volleyball and especially enjoyed watching her grandchildren in their sporting events.
Surviving to cherish her memory are four daughters and one son, Ann and Rob Kluck, Williamston; Dr. Barb and Dr. Joseph Pellegrino, Woodbridge, Virginia; Cheryl and Rob Smith, Saginaw; Diane and Pete Jones, Whitby, Ontario; Patrick Tovey, Alexandria, Virginia; 11 grandchildren, Gabriella Pellegrino, Mikhail Pellegrino, Robby and Courtney Smith, Jaymie and Josh Forsyth, Juliane and Chris Kapusta, Kristy and Dan Veenstra, Derek Jones, Stephanie and Adam Martin, Bradley and Jennifer Bourbina, Valarie Bourbina, Kevin Bourbina; eight great-grandchildren and two angels on the way; several nieces and nephews. Connie was preceded in death by a daughter, Denice Bourbina and her brother Lawrence Wend. A special thank you to the staff at Compassus Hospice and Wellspring Assisted Living for the care and love given to Connie.
Funeral Liturgy will take place 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 17, 2024, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 1035 N. River Rd., Saginaw, Michigan. Rev. Fr. Peter J. Gaspeny will officiate with burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery in St. Charles, Michigan. Friends may visit at the church where the family will be present on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of Mass.
