Delores Sauve

Beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away on Saturday, March 28, 2020 at Edgewood Assisted Living with her family at her side; at the age of 88 years. The daughter of the late Anthony and Louise (Semcych) Slyziuk was born on November 23, 1931 in Grandview, Manitoba, Canada. She married Gerald M. Sauve on July 30, 1950; he preceded her in death on October 18, 2017. They made their home in Livonia until moving to Saginaw 18 years ago. While in the Detroit area, Delores and Gerald owned a Marathon Service Station in Farmington until retiring in 1997. She had been a member of St. Kenneth Catholic Church, in Plymouth. Delores was currently a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church. She enjoyed watching her sons and grandchildren participate in sports and school events. Delores was an avid sports fan of the Detroit Redwings Hockey. Above all, Delores cherished the time spent with her family.

Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law: Robert and Karen Sauve, Roselle, IL; David and Anne Marie Sauve, Saginaw; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren: Christin and her husband Mike Gray, and their children, Cailyn, Logan and Caroline, Parkland, Florida; Ryan Sauve, Bradenton, Florida; Emily Suave, San Diego, California; Angela Sauve, Petosky, Michigan; Olivia Sauve, Saginaw; two step-granddaughters: Alex (Jones) and her husband, Brad Kirschenbaum, their daughter, Lena; Sam (Jones) and her husband, John Pritchard; one sister: Stella Kukhahn, Saginaw; two sisters-in-law: Carol Bartlette, Canada; Shirly Sauve, Canada; two nieces and one nephew: Linda Renda, Becky Killian, and Ken Slyziuk. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews and extended family members. Besides her husband and parents, Delores was preceded in death by two brothers and sisters-in-law, Ernie and Rose Slyziuk, Mike and Rose Slyziuk.

The family would like to extend a special and heartfelt thank you to all of the nurses and aides for their compassionate care of Delores at Edgewood Assisted Living.

Honoring Delores’ wishes, a private Rite of Committal has taken place at St. Andrew Cemetery. Rev. Fr. Pete Gaspeny officiated. Memorial Liturgy will be announced at a later date. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider Holy Spirit Catholic Church or Saginaw County Right to Life.
