Doris Mae Jacques

Jacques, Doris Mae of Saginaw, Michigan passed away on Monday, July 25, 2022 at Wescourt in Saginaw Township.  She was 96 years old.  Doris Crampton was born on September 13, 1925 to Lawrence and Cecilia (Graham) Crampton.  She married Kenneth A. Jacques on January 17, 1948 at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church.  He preceded her in death on December 1, 2004. 

Doris graduated from Arthur Hill High School, Class of 1943.   She was a member of Holy Spirit Parish and a former member of St. Stephen Church where she served on a multitude of committees and helped with the First Nighter Series.  Doris was a volunteer “extraordinaire”.   She was a past president of St. Mary’s Hospital Auxiliary and served in in many other capacities at St. Mary’s gift shop, Community Foundation and Thrift Store.  In August 2016 she was honored to receive the State of Michigan Governor’s Service Award for her lifetime dedication and commitment for volunteer service.  She was truly humbled by this gesture.

Doris enjoyed her many trips to Eight Point Lake. She especially appreciated celebrating summer Mass on the deck overlooking the lake.  In her younger years, Doris was an avid golfer and skier.

Surviving are two sons: Kenneth A. (Linda) Jacques, Jr. and Jeffrey (Denise) Jacques; six grandchildren: Julie (Brian) Anderson, Alicia (Steven Wendling) Jacques, Lisa (Shawn) McClure, Doug Steele, Nicole (Patrick Geary) Jacques and Nathan (Andrea) Jacques; plus several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Doris was preceded in death by three infant children: Mary Beth, Jonathan Francis and Julie Ann; one sister, Donna Wiltse; one brother, Lawrence Crampton, Jr.; and one granddaughter, Melissa (Jacques) Storey.

FUNERAL SERVICE: A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 2, 2022 at Holy Spirit Church, 1035 N River Rd, Saginaw, MI 48609. Rev. Peter J. Gaspeny will officiate. Committal service to follow at St Andrew Cemetery.

VISITATION: Family and friends will gather at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State) on Monday, August 1, 2022 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.  A Vigil Service will be held at 7:00 p.m.  Visitation will continue at the Holy Spirit Parish on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
