Norma M. Portner

Beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away Sunday, October 20, 2019 at the Brook of Gaylord. Age 90 years. The daughter of the late Theodore and Carmella (Adolfino) Cesarano, Norma was born July 16, 1929 in Chicago, Illinois. She married Carl A. Portner, Sr., on September 20, 1949. He predeceased her June 4, 1991. Norma was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church. She enjoyed sewing, embroidering, gardening, traveling and cooking. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family and friends.

Surviving are two sons, Robert and Sherry Portner, Gaylord; Carl Portner Jr., and his wife Muriel, Saginaw; six grandchildren, Karl and Teresa Portner, Jennifer Portner, Michael Portner, Tracy Portner, Joseph Portner and Mindy Portner; seven great-grandchildren, Kevin, Greg, Jacob, Austin, Dylan, Caleb and Rylen; a great-great-grandson, Dereck; a brother, Theodore and Barbara Cesarano, Phoenix, Arizona; several nieces and nephews. Norma was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Portner, and by a brother, Edward Cesarano.

Funeral Liturgy will take place 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 30, 2019 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 1035 N. River Road. Interment will follow in St. Andrew Cemetery. Friends may visit at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Rd., (between Shattuck and McCarty), where the family will be present on Tuesday, October 29, 2019 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and at Holy Spirit Catholic Church on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until time of Mass. A Vigil Service, led by Kathy Myles, Pastoral Associate, will take place 6:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
