Nancy K. Swanson
Beloved mother, grandmother and sister passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 6, 2020 at Medilodge of Mt. Pleasant, with her family at her side; at the age of 81 years.
The daughter of the late Omer Joseph and Mary Anna (Wykrentek) Nass, Nancy was born on October 11, 1938 in Saginaw, Michigan. Nancy married Robert A. Swanson on June 29, 1957 in Saginaw, Michigan. They shared 58 wonderful years together. Nancy was preceded in death by Bob on October 14, 2015. She worked in retail for various stores and shops; Nancy loved taking care of her family. Nancy was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church. She enjoyed cooking, canning, crafting, making stained glass and sewing. Nancy attended many of her son-in-law’s truck races. She had a passion for dancing, especially with Bob and often with her family while supporting her son’s country music band. Nancy and Bob were also avid golfers. Nancy’s family would say she had a green thumb when taking care of her garden and arranging flowers. She also enjoyed nature, Nancy would often go biking, jogging, walking and camping. Above all, Nancy cherished the time spent with her caring family; especially being together at a family event.
Surviving are one daughter, two sons and their spouses: Cheryl and Dan Baudoux, Freeland; Gary Swanson and Wendy Richter, Holiday, Florida; Rich Swanson, Holiday, Florida; two grandchildren; a brother and his wife: Al and Joyce Nass; a sister: Pat Simon; two sister-in-laws and their spouses: Dorothy and Tom Mayan; Ruth Ann and Mike Murphy. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. Besides her husband and her parents; Nancy is preceded in death by a son: Ron Swanson; a sister: Mary Jo Roberts; and a brother: Tom Nass.
The family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to the staff and aides at the Medilodge of Mt. Pleasant for the compassion care of Nancy.
Honoring Nancy’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A Rite of Committal will be announced at a later date at St. Andrew Catholic Cemetery. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Alzheimer’s Association.
