Patricia (Janicke) Kenel

Patricia Janicke Kenel of Saginaw, Township

Passed away on Monday, March 4, 2024, at Corewell Health William Beaumont University Hospital. She was 93 years old. Patricia Louise Janicke was born June 14, 1930, to George and Anna Janicke in Saginaw. She graduated from Arthur Hill High School in 1948. She was employed for many years at J.C. Penney Company. Since 1976, Pat has been a charter member of Tri-City Miniature Markers and N.A.M.E., the National Association of Miniature Enthusiasts. She truly enjoyed the “little things in life”, especially working on her many miniature projects, which won many ribbons at the Saginaw Fair.

Pat lost her husband Bob in 2012. He was her beloved partner for 65 years. She met Robert A Kenel, in an Ice Cream Shop and the sparks flew. He was home from the U.S. Navy where he served on the destroyer, the U.S.S. Mac Caffery, during World War II.

Pat and Bob were founding members of Holy Spirit Catholic Church, in Thomas Township. She was also a member of the League of Catholic Women.

Pat enjoyed her flower garden, the winters spent in Florida with Bob, and time spent at their cottage. During their younger years they spent their summers with their children camping “up north.”

She was an avid reader and crossword puzzle solver. Pat loved spending time with her family and friends.

She leaves to cherish her memory, beloved children, daughter, Patricia A. Conlay of Saginaw; two sons, Robert G. and his wife, Karen of St. Charles, and Rodney Kenel and Byan Kwapil of Milwaukee. She was “Gram” to her grandchildren: Melissa Conlay, Melanie Miller, and Jennifer Kenel; she also leaves two great grandchildren: Tristyn and Kinsley; along with several nieces and nephews. She leaves many dear friends including Carol Hodges. Pat also had great neighbors, especially David Hart, Andy Reis, and Al Timm.

A private funeral service will take place. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider the Make a Wish Foundation of Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Arrangements have been entrusted to the W. L. Case and Company Funeral Directors, 4480 Mackinaw Road, Saginaw, Michigan, 48603.
