Thomas B. Atkins Sr.

Beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle passed away Tuesday, May 11, 2021 at his home with his family by his side. Age 80 years. Son of the late Dale and Marie (Stuhlmacher) Atkins, Thomas was born September 5, 1940 in Gary, Indiana. He proudly served in the U.S. Army for 11 years and was a member of American Legion Post #439 and D.A.V. He married the love of his life, Donna L. Gawron, on February 16, 1980. She survives him. Tom was a millwright at G.M. Malleable Iron for 30 years and a member of U.A.W. Local #455. Tom was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, the casinos, traveling, camping, gardening and especially his grandchildren. He forever will be remembered for his great sense of humor and his selflessness for all.

Surviving besides his wife Donna are one son, Thomas (T.J.) and Sarah Atkins Jr., Hemlock; three daughters, Ann and Rick Atkins, Knoxville, Tennessee; Tina and Al Sullivan, Pinconning; Tracy and Troy Schneider, Midland; nine grandchildren especially close to him were Kaleigh and Greysen; several great-grandchildren; one brother, Lance and Tracy Isham, Hyannis Port, Mass.; several in-laws; and many nieces and nephews. Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, Dale and Marie Atkins and his step-mother, Betty Atkins.

Funeral Liturgy will take place 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 15, 2021 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 1035 N. River Rd., Saginaw. Rev. Fr. Peter J. Gaspeny will officiate followed by Military Services conducted by American Legion Post #439. Friends may visit at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Rd. (between Shattuck and McCarty), where the family will be present on Friday from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until time of Mass. In accordance with the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services ordinance, the limitations of number gathered, mask wearing and social distancing will be observed.
