Mary Helen Sipiala

Our ever loving mom, grammy, great-grammy, aunt and friend went to be with her Lord and Savior in heaven on Thursday, December 2, 2021 at her home surrounded by her family. Age 91 years. Mary Helen was born on February 4, 1930 in Saginaw, Michigan to the late Thomas and Gertrude (Rombach) Lawler. She graduated from St. Andrew High School Class of 1948. She worked at the Saginaw City Police Department, where she met her husband, Paul F. Sipiala. They married on September 27, 1952. He predeceased her in 1976. Mary Helen was a long time employee of the Saginaw Pulaski Club and worked at the Millet Learning Center. She was an active member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Mary was a loving and kind MOM to everyone. She will long be remembered for her selfless gentle soul and giving the biggest, warmest hugs.

Surviving are her son, Patrick Sipiala, Saginaw; her son, Mitchell (Deborah) Sipiala and their son, Paul R. Sipiala, Seattle; her daughter, Therese (Mitchell) Zaborowski and their son, Travis Zaborowski, Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan; her daughter, Cindy (David) Kitsch and their daughters, Marisa and Nicole Kitsch, Macomb Twp., Michigan; her daughter, Kathy (Scott) Hacias, Rochester Hills; a grandson, Todd (Regena) Sipiala, Florida and their daughters, Ashlyn and Holly. Mary Helen was preceded in death by her son, Paul J. (Cheryl) Sipiala, her daughter, Helen (William) Sipiala Miller and her grandson, Jason Sipiala; her half-brother, Robert Lawler, her brothers, Harold and Francis “Pat” (Madeline) Lawler; her sisters, Doris (Joseph) Morello and Joyce (Henry) Kochanowski.

Funeral Liturgy will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 9, 2021 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 1035 N. River Rd. Rev. Fr. Peter Gaspeny will officiate with interment to follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Friends may visit at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Rd., (between Shattuck and McCarty), where the family will be present on Wednesday from 2:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. and on Thursday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. A Vigil Service will take place at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Holy Spirit Catholic Church or Saginaw Survivors of Suicide.
