Frederick Lewis Thom
Passed away on Saturday, December 29, 2018. Age 70 years.
He was born on July 4, 1948, son of the late Leo and Noni (Purchase) Thom, in Saginaw. Fred married Betty Wachowicz on June 19, 1976. She survives him. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Conflict. Fred retired as a Truck Driver from Copco Paper Company after many years of service. After retirement he continued to work and had been employed at the Gratiot Road Meijer gas station. He enjoyed gardening, deer hunting, being outdoors and spending time with his family.
Fred will be missed by his loving wife of 42 years, Betty; their daughter, Jennifer Thom (Guadalupe Lopez); grandson, Alex; siblings, Jeanette Rutch, Ken (Nancy) Thom, Nancy Duranso, Jim (Charlotte) Thom and Barb (Dave) Resig; sisters and brothers-in-law, Pat Hervert, Jerome and Georgia Wachowicz, Barry Bamberg, Gary and Karen Wachowicz, Carolyn and Dave Seely, Greg and Jill Wachowicz, Mary and Mitch Spring; also many nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by his brothers and sisters-in-law, Ron Rutch, Al Duranso, Ed Hervert, Stanley and Sue Wachowicz and Dorothy and Frank Potts.
Funeral Liturgy will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 3, 2019, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 1035 N. River Road. Fr. Peter J. Gaspeny will officiate. Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday at W. L. Case and Company. 201 N. Miller Road, from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. where the family will be present for a prayer vigil at 7:00 p.m. Friends may also visit at the church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
