George H. Giddings
GIDDINGS, George Harrison, age 88 years, passed away Tuesday, January 21, 2020 in Saginaw, Michigan. He was born on January 30, 1931 to the late George and Marian (Grunder) Giddings. He married the former Marianne Greenman on January 28, 1955 and she survives him. George served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War and then taught high school science and speech for 39 years. He was a member of the St. Charles Lions Club, Saginaw Choral Society, and was a member at Holy Spirit Catholic Church where he was an usher. He loved to play bridge, fish, travel, cook, go to plays and spend time with his grandchildren. He also was a proud Michigan State fan of any sport.
Along with his wife of 65 years, Marianne, George is survived by his children, Brad (Colleen) Giddings, Eric Giddings and Anne (Mike) Keller; 12 grandchildren; siblings, Thomas Giddings, James (Julie) Giddings, Mike (Louise) Giddings, Robert Giddings and Joanna Ilieu; and a sister-in-law Judy Giddings. George was predeceased by a sister, Mary Ann (Robert) Hood and a brother John Giddings.
A funeral liturgy will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 1035 River Road, Saginaw. Rev. Fr. Peter J. Gaspeny will preside with cremation following. Visitation will take place at C.M. Humpula Funeral Home, 209 Entrepreneur Dr., St. Charles on Friday from 1–8 p.m. and again on at the church on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of service. A vigil service will be held on Friday at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hopsital or Holy Spirit Catholic Church.
