Joyce Mary Schultz

Beloved wife, mother and grandmother passed away on Friday, February 7, 2020 at Covenant HealthCare – Harrison Campus. Age 75 years. The daughter of the late Larry and Vivian (Allore) Hagerty, Joyce was born on May 18, 1944 in Saginaw, Michigan. She married her high school sweetheart, Stan Schultz, on September 10, 1966. He survives her. She was a former member of St. John Paul II Parish – St. Josaphat Church where she volunteered as an afterschool care provider. Joyce also was a former playground supervisor at Weiss School. She currently was a member at Holy Spirit Catholic Church and her faith was important to her. Joyce will long be remembered for being a fabulous cook, especially Chinese cuisine. She showed her love to family and friends by sending cards and notes of concern, always addressed as “to my friend…”. Joyce enjoyed watching sports and summer camping trips early on. Watching her grandchildren in their various activities brought her joy.

Surviving besides her husband Stan are two children, Steven (Amy) Schultz, Saginaw; Stacie (Greg) Meter, Saginaw; three grandchildren, Sarah, Laura and David; her siblings, Sally Macomber, Larry Hagerty, Kathy (Dennis) Mielke, Brian (Debbie) Hagerty; her sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Linda Hagerty, Mary Jane Yatch and Kathy (John) Smith; many nieces and nephews; longtime friend, Ella Kusowski. Joyce was preceded in death by her siblings, Michael Hagerty and Randy Hagerty; her brothers-in-law, James Macomber and David Yatch.

Funeral Liturgy will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 12, 2020 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 1035 N. River Rd. Rev. Fr. Peter Gaspeny will officiate with interment to follow in St. Andrew Cemetery. Friends may visit at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Rd., (between Shattuck and McCarty), where the family will be present on Tuesday from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. A Vigil Service will take place at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Nouvel Catholic Central High School.
