Sally Ann (Bush) Nicewicz

Beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away at her home on Monday, December 30, 2019. She was 87 years old. Sally Ann Bolger was born on February 8, 1932, in Saginaw, Michigan, to the late Fred and Irene (Follick) Bolger. She was a proud 1950 graduate of Arthur Hill High School. Following graduation, she married the love of her life, Benjamin Nicewicz on July 1, 1950, at St. Mary Cathedral in Saginaw; he preceded her in death on October 28, 1964. Sally was employed with Arrow Paper Products as a machine operator from 1950 until her retirement in 1997. She was a faithful member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church and volunteered to prepare food for funeral luncheon program. She enjoyed playing Solitaire, word searches, crocheting, knitting, and reading books. Sally also loved to cook and watch her Christmas television programs. Above all, she loved and cherished her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Sally will forever be remembered for her kind, caring and loving spirit, as well as for her wonderful sense of humor.

Surviving are a son and three daughters: David (Debbie) Nicewicz of Eagle; Mary Sandlin of Saginaw; Ann Nicewicz of Saginaw; Joan (David) Whitmer of Parkville, MO; six grandchildren: John (Cheryl) Nicewicz of Byron Center; Jennifer (Jason) Mosher of Grand Ledge; Benjamin Sandlin of Saginaw; Bethany (Chad) Bryant of Saginaw; Dan Whitmer of Parkville, MO; Riley Whitmer of Parkville, MO; eight great-grandchildren: Connor, Kodey, Nevaeh, Xavier, Kase, Sylis, Aubree, and Paisley. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son-in-law, David Sandlin; one brother and three sisters: Leah (William) Meredith, Betty (Roy) Newbold, Ellen (Keith) Burns, Frederick Bolger.

A Funeral Liturgy will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 3, 2020, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 1035 N. River Road. Rev. Fr. Peter J. Gaspeny will officiate. Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the W. L. Case and Company Funeral Chapel, 4480 Mackinaw Road on Thursday from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A Vigil Service will take place at 7:00 p.m. Thursday evening. Sally will lie in state at the church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. Rite of Committal will take place at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the American Diabetes Association.
