Beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family July 26, 2025. Age 87 years. Daughter of the late William and Margaret (McInnis) O’Brien. Sue was born on January 24, 1938, in Saginaw, Michigan. She was a 1956 graduate of Sacred Heart High School. She married William H. MacLachlan, her beloved husband of 67 years, on January 11, 1958. He predeceased her March 19, 2025. Sue was employed by Second National Bank/Citizen’s Bank retiring in 1997. She was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Sue was well known for her kindness, faith and deep love for her family.
Surviving to cherish her memory are one son, three daughters and their spouses, Patrick MacLachlan, Saginaw; Janine MacLachlan and her husband Lauro Arias, Chicago; Cynthia and Mark Gracey, Bay City; Sharon and Eric Smith, Saginaw; four grandchildren Andrew (Jacqueline) MacLachlan, Michael MacLachlan, Ellyse Smith (Jake McLellan) and Cameron Smith; a great-grandson Andrew MacLachlan Jr.; several nieces and nephews. Sue was predeceased in death by four sisters and one brother, Patricia Demsky, Colleen Dunn, William O’Brien, Mary Kay Gehrls and Barbara McDonough.
Honoring Mrs. MacLachlan’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A Funeral Liturgy will take place 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 2, 2025 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 1035 N. River Road, Saginaw, 48609. Rev. Fr. Peter Gaspeny will officiate. Friends may visit at the church from 10:00 a.m. until time of Mass. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the Alzheimer’s Association, Covenant At Home Hospice Care, or charity of your choice.
