David "Dave" Eugene Wenzel
Beloved brother, uncle, and friend passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, January 16, 2021, at his home. He was 66 years old. David Eugene Wenzel was born on August 29, 1954, in Saginaw, Michigan to the late Bernard and Margaret (Davis) Wenzel. He was a proud graduate of Arthur Hill High School. David worked as a metal worker for A.T. Ferrell, a painter with Miles Machinery, and as an auto body repairman with Bump and Grind. He was a tinkerer by nature and loved working with his hands. As a young man, David enjoyed working on, repairing, and painting vehicles. He had an intricate mind and also enjoyed building model trains and aircrafts. David will forever be remembered for the love and care he had for family, and for his selflessness in helping anyone in need.
Surviving are two brothers and three sisters: Janet (Donald) Frost of Albuquerque, NM; Lugene (Dan) Duquette of Merrill; Krist (Karen) Wenzel of Merrill; Brian (Becky) Wenzel of Bay City; Linda (Rick) Wiles of Cheboygan. Also surviving are four nieces; eight nephews; six great-nieces; and many extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard and Margaret Wenzel; niece, Lyndsey Frost.
A funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 20, 2021, at W. L. Case & Company, 201 N. Miller Road. Rev. Fr. Peter J. Gaspeny will officiate. Rite of Committal will follow at Owen Cemetery. Family and friends are welcome to gather at the funeral chapel on Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Service. In accordance with the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services Ordinance, building capacity is limited to 25 people, face masks are required, and social distancing encouraged. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association.
