Edith M. Pappas (Salwasser)
Beloved wife, mother and grandmother passed away on Wednesday, July 13, 2022, at Toni & Trish House, with her family at her side; at the age of 82 years.
The daughter of the late Herman and Frances (Jarema) Riedel, Edith was born on November 16, 1939, in Saginaw, Michigan and was a 1957 graduate of Arthur Hill. She worked as an office manager for Pembroke. Edith married George Pappas on June 25, 1994; he survives her. In her free time, she was an artist who loved painting and drawing, as well as scrapbooking. Edith was a passionate baker and a great cook. She loved to welcome new people into the church and cared for her fellow parishioners at Holy Spirit Catholic Church as a “Befriender.” She is remembered as being a very sweet and loving woman who liked everybody, and as “the best mom ever.”
Surviving besides her husband are her children Mark (Joan) Salwasser of Clinton Township, Diane (John) Hartley of Saginaw, and Kris (Jim) Fritz of Saginaw; stepchildren Karla (Jim) Hart, George (Mary) Pappas, and Denise Wright; grandchildren Zachary Salwasser, Shelby Meyers, Briana Fresorger, Dylan Syed, and Sean Salwasser; grand grandchild Ella Fresorger; and brothers Ray Riedel and Ron Riedel; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members, and friends.
Memorial Liturgy will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 19, 2022, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 1035 N. River Road, Saginaw, Michigan 48609. Rev. Fr. Peter J. Gaspeny will officiate. Friends may visit the family from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday at the church. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial contribution to Toni & Trish House.
