Marya Noelle Colpaert, born on December 7, 1974, in Saginaw, MI, passed away on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, positivity, and laughter. Marya, the cherished wife of Michael Colpaert, the loving mother of Lucas, Joshua, & Jaime De Reina Sastre (sons), daughter of Leonard Block, the beloved sister of Nate (Chasserae) Block, Trina (Michael) Ochs, and James Block. Marya also leaves behind aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, grand nieces, grand nephews, god daughters, god sons and cousins who will miss her dearly. Marya was preceded in death by her mother, Susan Sundeck.
Marya was a dedicated Deputy Drain Commissioner and Engineer for Saginaw County Public Works, where her passion for civil engineering shone through in every project she undertook. Marya greatly enjoyed the time spent with the Michigan Association of County Drain Commissioners, developing many close friendships over the years. A proud graduate of Michigan Tech University, she embraced challenges with a positive outlook and an ever-present smile.
Marya's family was everything to her, she threw her full support behind her sons' activities, including high school soccer, bowling, and trap shooting. She truly enjoyed her role as a Freeland Cub Scout Den Leader and Cub Master, helping guide her sons on the start of their journey to achieve the rank of Eagle Scout.
Marya's enthusiasm went beyond her immediate family; she was deeply involved in her scrapbooking community spending countless hours capturing our memories. She was a dedicated fitness and health enthusiast, always encouraging others to exercise and eat healthy. She always found joy in the simple moments, whether it was hiking, playing cards or board games with her family and friends or enjoying the company of her beloved dogs, Karma and Sadie, along with their late dog, Emma, now watching over them. Friends and family knew Marya as a caring, loving person who volunteered with the Commission on Aging, Boy Scouts of America, and high school soccer.
Marya's family will be present to receive visitors on Friday, February 27, 2026 from 10:00 AM until Marya's 11:00 AM Memorial Mass at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 1035 N. River Rd., Shields, with a luncheon at Noon. Fr. Peter Gaspeny will preside. She will be missed beyond words, but her light will continue to shine through the countless lives she touched.
