Richard “Dick” Luczak, age 85, of Saginaw, Michigan, passed away on June 6, 2026, in Saginaw, surrounded by family and friends. Born on May 8, 1941, in Bay City, Michigan, he lived a life marked by kindness, generosity, creativity, and a deep devotion to the people and places he loved.
Richard was the beloved son of Walter and Josephine Luczak, both deceased, and the cherished husband of Louise Luczak (Willing), who also preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his brother, James Luczak. He is survived by his children, Susan Morgan and Richard Luczak; his son-in-law, Mark Morgan; his sister, Dianne Graesser; his grandchildren, Kyle, Rachael, Luke, Sarah, Ian, and Xavier; and his great-daughter, Kasia
Richard devoted much of his life to education and the service of others. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Education from Eastern Michigan University and a Master of Science in Mathematics at Michigan State University. He served as a teacher and principal for the Saginaw Public School District, making a lasting impact on countless students and colleagues.
A Christian faith guided Richard throughout his life. He was known as a creative and selfless man who brought warmth to every room. He had a gift for storytelling and an infectious enthusiasm for life.
Richard especially loved spending time at his cottage and hunting camps in Hubbard Lake, MI, where he welcomed family and friends. He found happiness in simple pleasures, laughter, and the comfort of togetherness. His many interests included fishing, photography, jewelry making, hunting, gardening, tennis, bowling, water skiing, woodworking, and playing chess.
Richard will be remembered for his strong sense of family, his devotion to education, and the love he shared so freely.
A celebration of Richard’s life will take place on June 19, 2026, at Holy Spirit Church, 1015 N. River Rd., Saginaw, Michigan. Gathering will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by Mass at 11:00 a.m. A luncheon will follow in the church social hall.
