Joanne was born on October 22, 1937, in Saginaw, Michigan, to George and Doris (Fisher) Schobert. She graduated from Arthur Hill High School and, on November 5, 1955, married the love of her life, Richard A. Sonefeld. Together they shared nearly 71 years of marriage, building a life centered on faith, family, and enduring love.
Joanne was employed by the Joseph M. Day Company for many years. A devoted member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church, she generously gave her time through church committees and volunteer work, always finding joy in serving others and strengthening her parish community.
Family was the heart of Joanne’s life. She cherished every opportunity to gather with those she loved, creating countless treasured memories. She also enjoyed golfing, playing word games, visiting casinos, playing bingo, and spending time with friends. Her warm smile, kind heart, and gentle spirit touched everyone who knew her.
Joanne is lovingly survived by her devoted husband of 70 years, Richard A. Sonefeld; her children, Debra (Kip) Crevia, Christopher Sonefeld, and Brian (Marilyn) Sonefeld; her grandchildren, Melissa (Dan) Keenan, Stephanie (Cory) Pitt, Evan Crevia, Kelsey Sonefeld, Samuel Sonefeld, and Jackson Sonefeld; her cherished great-grandchildren, Makenzie, Breslyn, and Connor Keenan, and Axel and Remi Pitt; her sister, Kathleen Loviska; her brother-in-law, Dan Groom; her brother-in-law, John (Carmen) Sonefeld; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her parents-in-law, Chester and Emma (Schnarr) Sonefeld; her beloved grandson, Ryan Sonefeld; her sister, Barbara Groom; and her brother-in-law, Larry Loviska.
The family will receive family and friends on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, beginning at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 1035 N. River Road, Saginaw. A Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Holy Spirit Catholic Church or to the charity of one’s choice.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate caregivers of Heartland Hospice for the comfort, kindness, and exceptional care they provided to Joanne during her final days.
