Marianne Giddings

Marianne was born on July 5, 1936 to Donald Greenman and Hilda (Brockitt) Greenman in St. Charles. She married the love of her life, George Harrison Giddings, on January 28, 1955. They shared 65 years together in marriage.

During her life Marianne was active and enjoyed traveling, especially to the UK. She loved playing bridge, taking in plays at Wharton, attending MSU football games with George, and spending family time at Torch Lake. Marianne found joy in going to the casino with friends, and dreamed of hitting the jack-pot, though usually vowed never to go back again (until the next time). Listening to live music was a favorite activity, especially when George sang with the Saginaw Choral Society. Marianne had a special place in her heart for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and treasured time spent with them. She was a long-time parishioner of Holy Spirit Catholic Church of Saginaw.

Left to cherish her memory are her children: Brad (Colleen) Giddings, Eric Giddings, Anne (Mike) Keller, Elizabeth Scott; 12 grandchildren: Matthew (Ashley), Nathaniel (Julia), Charisa (Brandan), Elyse, Benjamin, Daniel, Madeline (Jack), Joe, Noah, Gabriel, Victoria, and Grace; 2 great grandchildren: Olive and Henry; sister Janet Mendyk; in-laws: Thomas Giddings, James (Julie) Giddings, Mike (Louise) Giddings, Robert Giddings, Joana (Robert) Ilieu, and Judy Giddings.

She was predeceased by her husband, parents, step-father Chester Tomano, sister, Beverly (Jim) Patterson, brothers James and Jack (Barb) Greenman; sister-in-law, Mary Ann (Robert) Hood; and brother-in-law, John Giddings.

A funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, January 5, 2023 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Saginaw. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 4, 2023, from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm at McGeehan Funeral Homes - St. Charles Chapel with a Vigil at 7:30 pm.
