Jane M. Symkowiak

Loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother passed away Monday, December 7, 2020 at Hoyt Nursing and Rehab Center. Age 99 years. Daughter of the late Leonard and Ethel (Corbett) Lagan, Jane was born November 10, 1921 in Saginaw, Michigan. She was married to Clarence V. Symkowiak on September 22, 1945. He predeceased her August 14, 1982. Jane was employed at the Saginaw Township School System in Food Service. She was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Jane was a Michigan State Fan and enjoyed spending winters in Bonita Springs, Florida.

Surviving to cherish her memory are two sons and one daughter, Ronald and Sue Symkowiak, Gaylord; Mary J. Fales, Hemlock; Mark Symkowiak and Tina Solomon, Ft. Meyers, Florida; a daughter-in-law, Ginny Symkowiak, Washington, North Carolina; nine grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Jane was preceded in death by her daughter, Cynthia O’Valle; her son, Danny Symkowiak; a granddaughter, Melissa Henne-Hallberg; a great-granddaughter, Christina Schroeder and her brother, Jack Lagan.

The family wishes to extend a special thanks to the staff at Hoyt Nursing and Rehab Centre for the love and care they have given.

Funeral Liturgy will take place 12:00 noon Thursday, December 10, 2020 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church 1035 N. River Rd., Saginaw, Michigan. Rev. Fr. Peter Gaspeny will officiate with private entombment at Mt. Olivet Mausoleum. Friends may visit at the church on Thursday where the family will be present from 10:00 a.m. until time of Mass. In accordance with the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services ordinance, the limitations of number gathered, mask wearing and social distancing will be observed. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Holy Spirit Catholic Church or Hoyt Nursing and Rehab Center.
