Dorothy Olive Flattery

Beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt passed away peacefully at her home with her family by her side on Saturday, January 15, 2022. She was 91 years old. Dorothy Olive Quaderer was born on March 3, 1930, in Maple Grove, Michigan to the late Aloysius and Agnes (Indelhofer) Quaderer. She was a proud 1948 graduate of St. Michael’s High School in Maple Grove. Dorothy’s love story began at a dance where she met the love of her life, Kenneth T. Flattery. They dated, fell in love, and were united in marriage on June 13, 1953; he preceded her in death on September 23, 2010. She was a lifelong, faithful, and founding member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church. As a young lady, she worked as a secretary for Peete’s Packing in Chesaning. Dorothy later worked in the kitchen at Swan Valley Public Schools. The role of her lifetime was to be a stay-at-home wife and mother to her children. Dorothy enjoyed sewing and crocheting, as well as bowling and golfing. She was a great cook and exceptional baker knowing exactly how many cups of love, dashes of kindness, and pinches of care that were needed to make everything taste great. Above all, she loved and cherished the time she spent with her family, especially attending all of her grandchildren’s school event. Though Dorothy could be stubborn, she left her indelible mark in this world through her kindness and the care she had for all she loved.

Surviving are two daughters, five sons, and their spouses, Marie Hauser, James Flattery, Linda and David Crawford, Timothy and Dedrea Flattery, William and Kelly Flattery, Edwin and Tammy Flattery, Gerald Flattery and Kim Guttowsky; 18 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one brother and two sisters, Kenneth (Beverly) Quaderer, Kathleen (Jerry) Kleinfeld, and Agnes (Tim) Keinath; three sisters-in-law, Sharon Quaderer, Patricia Quaderer, and Mary Krueger; friend, Kathi Flattery. Also surviving are nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

She was preceded in death by two children, Monica and Joseph Flattery; four brothers, Bernard Quaderer, Maurice Quaderer, Donald Quaderer, and Fredrick Quaderer; three sisters, Virginia Michael, Marianne Darland, and Carol Jean Quaderer; many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law on the Quaderer and Flattery side of the family.
