Raymond Darabos, Sr.

Beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother passed away tragically before his time on Saturday, July 9, 2022. Son of the late Joseph and Catherine (Decker) Darabos, Raymond was born on December 14, 1952 in Saginaw, Michigan. He grew up in St. Charles, Michigan, with his mother and stepfather, Harry Stevenson. As a child, Ray loved spending time with his eight siblings and playing football. Ray was a dedicated family-man, through and through, and a loyal friend. The true joy in Ray’s life was his wife, Victoria, whom he married on June 21, 1980. In their 42 years together, Ray and Vicky built a wonderful family of five children, twelve grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren knew him as Papa, the best grandfather they could have asked for! Ray dedicated his life to providing for his family, working tirelessly in the Laborer’s and Operating Engineer’s Union with Pumford Construction for 36 years before retiring to enjoy more time with his family. He filled his retirement with some of his favorite activities: relaxing by the water, traveling with Victoria, boating, fishing, and target shooting as a member of Saginaw Field and Stream Conservation Club, and never lost his love for Harley Davidson motorcycles.

His relationship with his family was surpassed only by his relationship with our Lord, Jesus Christ. Ray was a devout Catholic and loyal servant to God. He loved sharing the love and warmth of our savior, Jesus Christ, with as many people as possible. Now that Ray has passed into the arms of our Lord, we should remind ourselves that while this journey is the end of Ray’s physical life on Earth, it’s the beginning of an eternal and beautiful life for him.

Surviving besides his loving wife, Victoria are; his children, Chad (Stacey) Darabos, Amanda Paquette, Raymond (Anna) Darabos Jr., Robert (Heather) Darabos, and Jacob Darabos (Michael Bachelder); siblings, Cathy (John) Kahl, Dennis (Diane) Darabos, Barb Stevenson, Butch Darabos, Janice Stevenson-Smith, Susan Warner, and Dewey (Sandy) Stevenson; as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews and nieces. Ray joins his mother, Catherine; father, Joseph; stepfather Harry Stevenson; grandson, Dustin Badams; sister, Donna Borchard; nephew, Harold Baase; and mother-in-law and father-in-law, Esma and Donald Thomas in Heaven.
