Ronald Halm Jr.

Ronald Charles Halm, Jr., 81, of Bay City, our adventurous and energetic husband, Papa, brother, uncle, godfather, and loyal friend was born into eternal life on the evening of Thursday, March 9, 2023 at HealthSource – Saginaw.

Ron was born in Detroit on March 2, 1942, the son of the late Ronald Charles Halm, Sr., and the former Gertrude M. Mahoney. He graduated from St. Mary’s High School with the Class of 1960. While at The Silver Derby in Crump, he met the former Dorothy Mae Rogner and they were united in marriage on July 31, 1965 at St. Valentine’s Church. Their marriage was blessed with 57 years, one daughter, Ronda, and countless memories.

Ron was the owner and operator of two Midas Auto Service locations in Gaylord and Cheyboygan. In his free time, he enjoyed hunting and fishing, and was a car enthusiast. He was a proud lifetime member of the NRA and will forever be remembered for his great conversational abilities. His gregarious personality naturally made it so he never met a stranger throughout life. Always willing to try anything once, Ron truly was one-of-a-kind. His memory will live on for years to come.

To carry on his legacy, Ron leaves his loving wife, Dorothy Mae Halm. He was the most loving Papa of Noah Charles Halm, who was the light of his life. Ron is also survived by his sisters, Kathleen Schofield and Sue (Jack) Kellerman; niece Anne (Heather) Schofield, and nephews, James (Susan) Schofield, Paul Schofield, John (Jennifer) Kellerman, and Joseph Kellerman. In addition to his parents, Ron was welcomed home to heaven by his daughter, Ronda Mae Halm, who preceded him in death on December 17, 2017, and his brother-in-law, Gary Schofield.

Ron’s family will be present to receive visitors on Saturday, April 22, 2023 from 10:00 AM until Ron’s 11:00 AM Memorial Liturgy at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 1035 N. River Rd., Saginaw, MI 48609. Fr. Peter Gaspeny will preside with a luncheon to follow at church. Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Cancer Society or Alzheimer’s Association. The entire family wishes to extend a heartfelt thanks to A&D Home Health Care for their compassionate care. Final arrangements have been entrusted to Skorupski Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 1550 Midland Rd., between State & Gratiot.
