All middle and high school students are encouraged to participate!   We gather at the same time, but will meet in different spaces.  Try once, come back for more.

Additional events are planned as the opportunities arise, so please check back here, the bulletin, or the Youth Ministry Bulletin Board at church for other events to attend.

APRIL

1      EASTER! 

8    CROSS tRAINING Youth Group—6:15-8:15p @ HSP

14-15   NET RETREAT  NET Ministries will be sending a team of young adults to lead teens from our local parishes through a retreat.  This group does an outstanding job of being relevant and keeping young people engaged while helping them to grow in faith.  Ask any one who knows about this group and you will hear nothing but praise—from youth with many interests and backgrounds.  Learn more about NET at netusa.org.  Watch the bulletin and our website for details.

MAY

TBA  8th Grade Celebration Mass @  10:30a  This is a special mass for diocesan youth who will be preparing for high school. 

11-12 Cardboard City with area Catholic Churches at St. Francis of Assissi

20  Pentecost, Parish Feast Day

JUNE

3    Mass & Reception for the Class of 2018 @ HSP—8:30a (mass @ 9, reception after)

14   Kokomo’s Fun Night for MS—6-9p

24-29  Youth Encounter Service—5p-5p   Local ‘mission trip’ for high school students from our diocese

JULY

11 2018 St. John Paul II Youth Gathering Sacred Heart Church, Gladwin   This diocesan event attracts over 50 teens to serve, eat, and float down the river together (by tube, kayak, or canoe) with other Catholic teens from Detroit.

23 - 27 (29?) Youth Mission Trip to St. Vincent Mission, KY   Week long service trip to help families in Eastern KY

Bonus dates!  If you are willing to serve people in need on your day off from school, invite a friend and let Christina know you need a ride.  Options are listed below.

ONGOING SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES

¨ St. Francis Home—Contact Jackie or Vickie @ 781-3150—Visitors are welcome any day; spend 30 minutes or an hour reading, playing a game, walking or visiting with a resident.

¨ Cathedral of Mary of the Assumption—3rd Saturday @ 8am—Serve Breakfast to neighbors in need

¨ Abortion Alternatives Information—Contact Tania or Ruth @ 754-0091—Sort baby clothes, diapers and food or help in the yard. Volunteers are welcome most days and with short notice, please call ahead.

¨ Soup Kitchen at Old Town Christian Outreach (just off Gratiot)—M, W, or Fr from 9am-1pm   Prepare and serve lunch to neighbors in great need who come for a hot meal and fellowship

¨ Help hand out groceries (provided by local donations and Eastern MI Foodbank) at Old Town Christian Outreach (just off Gratiot)—Saturdays from 9am-1:30pm—Help set-up distribution tables, greet folks and share the food, help clean up. Open rain or shine, in the cold and in the heat.

¨ Holy Spirit Faith Formation—Contact Debbie @ 781-3330 to help with  elementary formation classes

¨ Participate more fully in our mass by serving as a Lector, Eucharistic Minister, Usher or Gift Bearer—Contact Kathy @  781-2457
