Deanna K. Schultz

( May 07, 1938 - January 29, 2016 )

Loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away Friday, January 29, 2016 at her home. Age 77 years. The daughter of the late Howard and Theresa (Smigelski) Clark, Deanna was born May 7, 1938 in Flint, Michigan coming to Saginaw in 1949. She married Donald Schultz on May 28, 1960. He predeceased her June 14, 2004. Deanna graduated from Saginaw High School in 1956 and graduated with honors from the Health Insurance Institute of America. Deanna’s work career included 15 years with the Aetna Insurance Company, training in Hartford, Connecticut and Detroit. She worked in the Commercial Insurance Division, Bond Department, and as a Marketing Support Analyst in the Employee Benefits Division. When Aetna closed its Saginaw office, Deanna accepted a position with Saginaw Valley State University in the Foundation Office, Alumni Relations. Deanna enjoyed working and taking classes at the University. She drew strength from the enthusiasm of students and coworkers. Deanna was named Honorary Alum of SVSU in 1997. This honor was one of the highlights of her career. Deanna enjoyed teaching religious education for over 12 years at St. George Catholic Church and Holy Spirit Catholic Church, serving on various committees. Her greatest pleasure was the time spent with her beloved grandchildren. She enjoyed reading, sewing, travel and the wonderful companionship of friends in the card club for over 50 years. 


Surviving are three sons, two daughters and their spouses, Donald II, David (Anne), Dean, Darcy, Daphne (Stacey Wyman); 10 grandchildren, Samantha, Jeremiah, Victoria (Jan Mursak), David Jr., Taylor Schultz, Zachary, Stephanie, Brandon, Jennifer and Ashley Wyman; a great-grandson, Conner; a brother and sister-in-law, Howard (Ruth) Clark Jr., Oscoda; several beloved cousins, nieces and nephews. 


Funeral Liturgy will take place 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 1035 N. River Rd., Saginaw. Rev. Fr. Peter Gaspeny will officiate with burial in St. Andrew Cemetery. Friends may call at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Rd., (between Shattuck and McCarty), where the family will be present on Tuesday from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and at Holy Spirit Catholic Church on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until time of Mass. A Vigil Service will take place 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Holy Spirit Catholic Church, SVSU Foundation Office-Scholarships or the charity of their choice.
