U.S. VeteranBeloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother passed away unexpectedly Thursday, December 3, 2015 at his home. Age 76 years. The son of the late Raymond and Dolores (McQueen) Kalahar, Tom was born May 16, 1939 in Saginaw, Michigan. Tom was a 1958 graduate of St. John Catholic High School in Jackson, Michigan. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from October 1, 1958-September 28, 1962. Tom was previously married to Karon Phillips who predeceased him. He then married Darlene Szczepanik, his loving wife of 20 years, on October 15, 1995. She survives him. Tom was employed at Miller Mold for several years. He was later employed General Motors Corp. for many years until his retirement. Tom served as President of the Greenview Place Association at Bay Valley where he will be dearly missed. He was instrumental in the upkeep of the grounds at Bay Valley. Tom enjoyed golf, fishing, boating and loved time spent with his family and friends.

Surviving besides his wife Darlene are two daughters, one son and their spouses, Julie Kalahar and her fiancé Tim Bowers, Georgia; Craig and Sheri Kalahar, Tennessee; Catherine Walker, Walled Lake; a daughter-in-law, Karla Kalahar, Colorado; three step-children, William and Jen Sepanik, Kim Seelinger, Dan and Heidi Sepanik; grandchildren, Craig Jr. (Kayla) Kalahar, Jackson and Nickolas Kalahar; great-grandchildren, Tanner and Tucker Kalahar; step-grandchildren, Tyler and Trevor Sepanik, Samantha Seelinger and Joseph Sepanik; two brothers and one sister, Richard and Janet Kalahar, Ruth and Dave Westhoff, James and Sue Kalahar; many nieces and nephews. Tom was preceded in death by a son, Kevin Kalahar, a grandson, Brandon Walker and by infant twin sisters.

Funeral Service will take place 2:00 p.m. Sunday, December 6, 2015 at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Rd., (between Shattuck and McCarty). Rev. Fr. Peter Gaspeny will officiate. Honoring Tom’s wishes, cremation will follow. Friends may call at the funeral home where the family will be present on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until time of service. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the Wounded Warriors.
