Mary Jean Tucker
(January 25, 1930 - December 13, 2015 ) Formerly of Saginaw, Michigan Formerly of Knoxville, Tennessee Passed away on Sunday, December 13, 2015 at Brookdale Assisted Living in Farmington Hills, Michigan following several years of battling Alzheimer’s disease. Age 85 years. The only child of the late Harry and Hazel (Lowres) Godfrey, Frances was born January 25, 1930 in Brandon, Manitoba, Canada and grew up in Plentywood, Montana. She graduated from Plentywood High School in 1948 and attended the New England School of Optometry and became an Optometrist. Frances moved to Iowa by herself where she started her career. In 1953, she married Carl Parker, a pharmacist in Flint, Michigan who predeceased her in 1996. Frances worked for NuVision in Michigan and retired in 1999. While living in Flint, and at the age of 35 years, she was admitted to the Mensa placing her in the top 2% of the country’s population intelligence. Frances moved to Florida in 1998 and met Jack Tucker, who was widowed in 1988. They were married on May 22, 1999 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Saginaw, Michigan. Fran and Jack lived in Florida and Michigan and ultimately moved to Knoxville, Tennessee. He predeceased her on July 8, 2015. Fran was a devout Catholic. Surviving are four children, Cleo Parker and her husband, Michael Briggs, Tim and Donna Parker, Theresa and Michael Jarvis and Broderick and Angie Parker, all of Michigan. Funeral Liturgy will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 18, 2015 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 1035 N. River Rd., Saginaw, Michigan. Rev. Fr. Peter J. Gaspeny will officiate with burial in St. Andrew Cemetery. There will be no visiting hours at the funeral home. Friends may call at the church on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Francis Home. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Rd. |
