PRESCHOOL
FAITH FORMATION CLASSES:
Catechesis of the Good Shepherd will be offered during
Mass on Sunday. This is for all 3 and 4 year olds.
Weekly attendance is very important. Each week builds
on the previous one. CGS is not babysitting; it is a
structured program that helps your child develop a
relationship with God.
CATECHESIS OF THE GOOD
SHEPHERD
“Catechesis of the Good Shepherd” is a
way of religious formation for children that is quite
different from traditional programs. Its approach to
the religious formation of the child is rooted in the
Bible, the liturgy of the church and the educational
principles of Maria Montessori. It does not use a
catechetical series of books or take place in a
traditional classroom setting. There is a room prepared
for the children in which every object is a help to
knowing God. The room is called an Atrium, and it is a
place of simplicity, order, prayer, community and work.
The work is appropriate to the ages and sizes of the
children gathered. The atrium allows the children to
come in contact with scripture, the liturgy, church
tradition, and sacred history.
Level 1 of this
program is open to preschoolers (beginning at age 3) through
grade 1.
Level 2 begins with
grade 2.
TRADITIONAL STYLE PROGRAM
Open to children in grades
2-5.
CHILDREN'S ENVELOPES
Teaching
our children about stewardship is very important. One
aspect of stewardship is treasure. There are envelopes
available for the children on the Information Center
counter. Please consider having your child use an
envelope this year. There is a place for them to write
how they also gave of their time and talent.
